In Episode 39 of Folarin's podcast 'Go With the Flo’, I had the chance to share my journey from being an overlooked outsider artist to carving my niche in the very competitive art world.
NEW YORK IS BACK : SCAR LIP LIVE @ SOBS #SCARMODA
Last Month, I got to link up with the NYC Bronx Born artist 'Scar Lip' at SOB's for her performance with the Youniteam, rolling deep with our new PR Woman, Tammi Noelle Taylor, Chief Editor of TO+NY Magazine, Mari J and sharpshooter photographer Ralphy Clouds. 'This Is New York' artist has been the driving force of our city and has inspired some of my latest fashion and art creations, bringing back memories of the hustle and grind that shaped me into who I am today.
'SOFT BODIES' @ SKYE Gallery
May 30th, I attended the opening of "Soft Bodies" at Skye Gallery in Chelsea with my fellow artist and part-time bestie Gianna Tesone. Hailing from Denver, each artist united to bring their creations to our fast-paced City, aiming to add a touch of warmth to our stone-cold lives.
LIVE @ LANDMARK : Ressource x NYC Artist @ Landmark Art Gallery
Nahhhh I Had the MOST amazing experience at the Landmark Art Gallery checking out Luca Goly accompanied by Mia showcasing his talent! It was truly invigorating to feel slightly overwhelmed by the presence of other notable artists like Reid Stowe & Wife Maxine Hoover, DIG, and Miriam Portilla. Their energies motivated and inspired me in ways I didn't expect. Witnessing art from diverse corners of the globe was a surreal experience - especially the authentic connection between Miriam from Mexico and Josh Zweig from the Bust Gallery, as well as DIG's impeccable sense of style both on the canvas and in person.
A Day Out with the Youniteam : Capturing the Creative Essence Behind the Lens
Peace and blessings to you on this gorgeous day, to you, my fashion fam!
Today, we ventured through the bustling streets of Brooklyn with the dynamic 'Youniteam,' all set to elevate the photoshoot scene for Gureje, a Nigerian born designer who’s built a sacred and cherished foundation at his ‘Art Village’ and café for the past 25 years.
A Joyful Reunion: My Visit to Scooter La Forge’s Tee-Hee-Hee Exhibition
In a joyful reunion, I visited Scooter La Forge’s Tee-Hee-Hee show, filled with vibrant art on fashion apparel. Surprises awaited me, from reconnecting with Scooter to encountering Jane Friedman, co-founder of Howl! Happening. Immersed in the kaleidoscope of colors and whimsical designs, I left with cherished memories and a reminder of the power of friendship and creativity.
REST IN PARADISE RAB BAKARI
HIP HOP LEGEND RAB BAKARI
One of my first influences growing up, my cousin Rab Bakari was always a very worldly person. When i was about 11, he used to tease my brother about how close minded to things beyond ourselves. Especially growing up in Queens, i can only imagine how much it truly irked his soul watching us eat sandwiches for dinner every night lol.
He later took us to our first comic convention where i then was introduced to the world of anime, special edition merchandise/artworks and all sorts of collectables that i could believe existed. Not only that he was a b-boy, DJ and even had graffiti in 5 points! Later he moved to Ghana to further purse his life and career goals and man i was RIGHT behind him.
i write this now with a bit of salt in my heart, i know i could have been more outspoken to wards my family. With all the devastation in and out of my life my focus has been more on my work. And Everyday I am learning to divide my time… i hope i have enough time to make all the things right.. To make SURE the people i love, know that i love them back.
Many Blessings To Him And His Closest Family And Friends.
Special Thank To My Cousin Dj Cool Flex For the Footage And Material.
